I love this. So often we don’t take this to heart, especially when it comes to the internet. We post, often carelessly, about things we have little to no knowledge of, and we use our words to gossip, hurt and slander, thinking because we’re not face to face we are exempt from kindness and from the commands of God.

But God says:

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. -James 1:19-20

So maybe instead of being so quick to offer our two cents, we would do well to pause and ponder whether our words are edifying to others and glorifying to God.

  1. We need to be careful with our words, those spoken and those written. Our words should be used to build up and not tear down. May we all be aware of our words and use those that will build the kingdom of God and bring glory to His name. Be blessed today and bless someone else!
